I was saddened by the news of Mr. Catalano's passing.
Mr. Catalano is the type of person you hoped you would meet in your lifetime.
I've known Mr. Catalano since the 70's and probably crossed paths with him even before that when playing ball in the Town of Evans Little League. Well known for his energy level and durability Mr. Catalano also presented the toughness surrounding the tenderness that put family, care and attention to detail, customers and employees on the Catalano radar.
My friendship with his sons Lou and Joe as well as some of his various in-laws, became extended as I worked along side family members for several years. I grew more appreciative of Mr. Catalano's business experience but was touched more by his sensitivity to family needs. I recently joked with Lou and Joe about how easy it was to sense the family type connection while working there but how glad I was that Mr. Catalano hadn't treated me like family all the time otherwise I would have had to go on the roof of the dealership in July or August and tear roofing off or tar and patch spots with his grandsons. Like their Granpa though...tough and got the job done with any commentary reserved for afterwards, if any at all.
The smile that appears on the accompanying photo of this obituary was just the tip of the iceberg as they say and a portend of one great smile that seemed to ignore any unpleasant history, experiences, health issues or concerns and was one of the most genuine. You'd have to smile just seeing him smile.
I share with the entire Catalano family, my family's condolences and the following passages from God's Word, that I pray will be a comfort to them all. Romans 14:7-8. "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or we die, we are the Lord's."
God's Peace
